Distortion

Photo series: ’Distortion.’ Digitalized analog/digital prints. 20x30cm each. October 2015

‘To exist among others, I adjust my distortions. Just like buildings provide a frame for our co-existence, I adapt my reality to other people’s realities.’ These lines sum up the point of my series ‘Distortion’. The series consist of four digitized analog photographs, all with a blue tinge and a sought for aesthetically beautiful exterior. Common to all the pictures is that they are reflections mirrored in window glass. This adds an extra dimension to the realistic motif, which gives the viewer a displaced view of the world. We are invited into a space, which presents a view of reality different from the 'true' reality that we all believe to be sharing. In the pieces, we do not see a universal version of the world, our view has become affected and distort.

To reach a common understanding of reality we try to rectify our distortions and find a shared foundation. We build and stabilize our individual reality on top of the reality of others, just like we stabilize buildings.
